Wan Li Zhu Joins UNION as an Advisor

UNION is pleased to announce that Wan Li Zhu, an experienced Boston-based technology VC, is joining the rapidly expanding UNION team as an advisor. Wan Li brings over a decade of institutional and corporate investment experience, as well as product leadership in the software space. He joins UNION’s growing list of team members as we build the cornerstone of full-stack protection for the DeFi market.

Wan Li has been a Partner at Fairhaven Capital, a VC firm in Boston that has invested $450M in enterprise and consumer technology startups. Wan Li is also the founding advisor of Suffolk Tech, the corporate venture capital arm of leading US construction company Suffolk, where he invests in startups innovating in the construction and real estate sectors.

Wan Li is also a leader in the university entrepreneurship ecosystem. He is co-founder and Managing Director of MIT Alumni Angels, the alumni startup investment network of MIT, which has backed over 100 technology and life sciences companies. He also runs the Harvard Founder Network, a community of high potential Harvard-affiliated startup founders.

Prior to venture capital, Wan Li led enterprise software product development and marketing organizations at Microsoft in Dynamics CRM, which became the fastest growing business in the company’s history. Wan Li has also spent time at Google in online advertising, at Morgan Stanley in investment banking, and at Merrill Lynch in IT.

Wan Li holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, where he completed research in knowledge acquisition for artificial general intelligence at the MIT Media Lab and in applying AI to financial markets analysis at the MIT Lab for Financial Engineering. Wan Li is the Executive Chairman of the New England Venture Network and has served as Chairman of the Board at the MIT Enterprise Forum.
